We are with you throughout the student visa process

Once you receive your acceptance letter, the most delicate stage of your study abroad plan begins: the student visa. Every country has a different visa type, document list and rule on proof of financial means; even a small date mismatch or a missing document can prolong the process. At Weroglobal Student, we help you prepare your file according to the target country's current requirements, check your documents and plan your appointment schedule around the start of your studies.

An important note: only the competent authorities of the country concerned decide on a visa. We do not promise an outcome; we work to ensure your file is complete, consistent and prepared on time.

Scope of the service

  • Identifying the correct visa type for the target country and programme
  • Drawing up a personalised document list and pre-checking documents
  • Comparing the information on the application form with the acceptance and invitation documents
  • Guidance on proof of financial means
  • A preparation session for countries that hold interviews
  • Information on registration and residence procedures after arrival

Example: how does the Russian student visa work?

In Russia, the process starts at the university before the consulate. After the admission and enrolment steps are completed, the university or competent authority issues an official study invitation on behalf of the student; this invitation is the basis of the visa application. The acceptance letter alone is not considered sufficient.

Durations and extension

According to our partner sources, the first student visa is issued for a maximum of 90 days, as single or double entry, depending on the dates in the invitation. After the student has registered in Russia, extension procedures are handled with the relevant unit of the university; each extension can cover a period of up to one year. The visa does not extend automatically; it is the student's responsibility to keep track of the timeline.

The e-visa cannot be used for study

Russia's electronic visa is for short visits; the source states that it is valid for 120 days from the date of issue and that a stay in the country cannot exceed 30 days. For university or preparatory study, you need to apply for a classic student visa based on an invitation.

Core documents

  • A passport with sufficient validity (as different durations are mentioned in our sources, the current requirement should be confirmed with the application centre)
  • An application form completed and signed via the official system
  • Biometric photo
  • Official study invitation and, where necessary, an acceptance or enrolment letter
  • Health insurance covering Russia
  • An up-to-date medical report including an HIV test result
  • Parental consent and additional documents for applicants under 18

After arrival, checking the migration card, notifying the university, migration registration according to your accommodation address and the extension timeline are also part of the process; we keep you informed at these steps too.

Points to note in other countries

In Europe and other destinations, the key issue is usually proof of financial means. In Germany, a blocked account (Sperrkonto) is required for the national (type D) student visa; our partner sources give this amount as approximately €11,208 with reference to 2024, and the current amount may change from period to period. The United Kingdom may request a specific bank balance, Canada proof of tuition fees and living costs, and Poland documents for accommodation and living expenses. In Ireland, Stamp 2 comes into play; in Czechia, long-term student residence; and in Latvia and Lithuania, residence permit procedures. Although our sources give a processing time of 2-8 weeks for European countries, this may be longer in busy periods; we recommend starting preparations at least 2-3 months before classes begin.

Common mistakes

  • The passport number or dates not matching between the form and the invitation
  • Missing or inconsistent financial documents
  • Not checking the information on the visa sticker when collecting it
  • Leaving extension and registration procedures until the last day
